Ringing, Saturday 29th August

A bumper CES visit to Pensthorpe on Saturday brought totals back in line with previous years, largely due to a roving Tit flock caught early in the morning.

39 Blue Tits and 17 Long-tailed Tits made up the bulk of the catch, but migrant numbers were reasonable with 16 Blackcaps, 8 Reed Warblers, 11 Chiffchaffs and 1 Willow Warbler. Other highlights from the visit included Bullfinch, Treecreeper, Kingfisher and Song Thrush. This visit marked the end of the CES for the year; the final total for the day was 118 birds.
