A warm and pleasant day with little bird activity, the highlights were 5 Black-tailed Godwits around the NWT pools, a Cuckoo in the dunes, and 2 juvenile Stonechats along the east bank in the afternoon.

A good catch of moths included 2 Pine Hawks, a Poplar Hawk, 7 Garden Tigers, Swallow and Pebble Prominents, a Fern, Flounced Rustic, Straw Underwing, 20 Ruby Tigers, a Knot Grass and 2 Kent Black Arches.

Obvious birding highlights at Walsey Hills included 2 Cattle Egrets seen for much of the day in the Eye field, 4 Spoonbills on Pope's Pool and the Serpentine and a good variety of waders scattered around the area including 2 Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper, around 20 Whimbrel and Little Ringed Plover. A Hobby was also seen hawking for dragonflies over the main scrapes on the reserve.
