CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – THURSDAY 5th NOVEMBER 2020

COVID-19 Restrictions on NOA Reserves Further to the announcement of a second lockdown in order to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus, the NOA must once again close all hides on its nature reserves from 5th November. While we would discourage anyone from travelling too far during this crucial time, our reserves themselves will remain open for local visitors and usual charges will apply for non-members. Please follow government advice, and respect social distancing at all times. We will restore access to our facilities as and when government restrictions permit. We are very grateful for your understanding and support.

Saturday 5th May 2018

A beautiful sunny day wit light winds, highlights today were a male Redstart which was showing on the east bank during the afternoon, and a Greenland Wheatear was also present. On the sea 3 Fulmars, an Eider, 8 Common Scoters, 7 Little Terns, 2 Common Terns, 58 Sandwich Terns and 3 Great Crested Grebes were recorded. A Ring Ouzel was reported on the NWT reserve, and a Firecrest was calling in the pines north of the Richardson hide. Also of interest were a Peregrine over the grazing marsh, a Grasshopper Warbler reeling near the NWT entrance gate, 5 Whimbrel and a Tree Pipit flew over, and at least one Cuckoo was heard.

Eight Green Hairstreaks were around the reserve and a Hairy Hawker was seen near the Broadwater.
