Holme Bird Observatory Saturday 18th May 2019

The highlight of the day was 2 Temminck's Stints found on the scrapes late afternoon - visible from the first NWT hide. Other interest on the marshes included 4 lingering Pink-footed Geese, a mimimum of 8 Common Sandpipers and singles of Greenshank and Whimbrel. Along the Broadwater 4 Common Terns, 4 Sandwich Terns and 2 Little Terns were seen.

Overhead were 2 Swifts, c.20 Swallows, 1 Sand Martin, 1 House Martin and a Tree Pipit west whilst in the dunes at least 5 Cuckoos, Turtle Dove, Whinchat and 2 Stonechats were of note.

A Small Elephant Hawkmoth was in the moth traps along with an early Brown Rustic and 7 Diamondback Moths.

The Wood Sandpiper was present again on Redwell until early evening when it flew off high north east.
