Holme Bird Observatory Wednesday 1st January 2020

Birds on the sea today included a drake Long-tailed Duck, Red-necked Grebe, Razorbill and two drake Goldeneye. The mixed passerine flock at the mouth of Thornham Harbour held around 30 Snow Buntings, at least four Twite (two colour ringed) 150 Linnet, which again included the leucistic bird. On the grazing marsh around 400 Pink-feet were accompanied by 32 Barnacle Geese, with a further 20 arriving off the sea mid morning. Pride of place today though goes to a Waxwing mid afternoon, showing nicely to a handful of admirers.

Waxwing today at the Obs.
